A quick update!
So apparently I have been neglecting my blog a lot lately. Does anyone even read my blogs? Haa Well I still plan on moving my blog with the help of a friend, so it is up to my friend's timing... hopefully soon. Any who I had my wisdom teeth extracted on Thursday and I had no pain until the 3rd day. Yesterday I had a terrible migraine, but it has let up today.
I did not reach my goal of 40 sales by my 2 month mark which was August 15th unless I count the 14 sales outside of Etsy. In that case I exceeded it by 12, and even exceeded my desired goal by 2.
I have over 100 fans on facebook now, so I have my URL!!! Thanks! http://www.facebook.com/modmomME I did the drawing for the $15 gift certificate and Heather Petoskey won! She chose a nursing cover from my shop. Congrats to Heather!
Hubby is working on a new sewing desk for me. I will post pictures when he is finished!

30 Sales and A New Goal!
Yesterday I made my 30th sale! I was very excited about that and I still am. I have made a new goal for myself and that is to get 40 sales by August 15th, which marks 2 months of being opened! Do you think I can do this? I was aiming for 50, but I did not want to expect too much and then be disappointed. I would be extremely happy with 40 sales by that time... truth be told I would be happy with 1 more sale by that time. Thank you to all of my readers and those of you who have purchased from mod momME! I am extremely grateful to you and so is my family.

Ok, many of people have asked me about my graphics or have expressed interest in using my graphic designer! Well, Erin had her baby earlier this month and has informed me she will begin creating and taking custom orders on Monday!!! She is phenomenal, so if your shop or blog needs a facelift or if you need anything graphics related please check her shop here.
Now... I had every intention of having brand new items in my store by now, but I am still waiting on some supplies to arrive so that I can create these items. I will try to keep everyone updated on the status! I have listed new key fobs and new bags in many fabric choices. I will probably have even more to choose soon from as I am a fabricoholic!
Lastly, I have been trying to do my best to keep up with all the wonderful teams I am a part of. Most likely my blog will look a little different as I add team buttons to the sidebar and organize a little bit. I just hope I do not mess up the whole setup!

It's been awhile!
I know I have completely put off writing on my blog and I am sorry. Life has been crazy, sad, exciting and overwhelming, so I have a lot to share. Go get the pop corn and some tissues. I will start with the sad news that still brings me to tears.
Etsy lost a wonderful person last Saturday in a white water rafting accident. ChromaSmear was well known by Etsy chatters and was well loved. I do not think a single person could say 1 bad thing about her! She was always helping and encouraging others. I was working with her on donations for boxes that would benefit animal shelters in Canada and the US. Chroma had a passion and a love for animals like I have never seen. I feel that it is my duty to carry on her work and while I cannot do much I am donating 10% of my Dispose a Diaper/Doggie Poo Bag sales to a local animal shelter. I just made a sale, which means I have the first .99 cents that will be donated in Chroma's memory! I am very excited about it too.
The same day ChromaSmear passed away I got to hang out with some awesome ladies. I met MissMooseDesign (Missy) earlier last week as she came over with V for a play date and lunch with Kameron and Kallee. The kids enjoyed their time together I think and I enjoy Missy's company. CowlickCutie (Jenny) came to my house Saturday afternoon to pick me up, so we could go to Missy's house the the crab broil! I don't think Missy expected us to show up, but I am glad we did. Jenny and I ate more than our fair share of crab legs. We could not say no. Missy's family is awesome. I never felt like an outsider while I was there because everyone acted like they knew me and like I belonged. It was a wonderful feeling. Her dad rocks! He is crazy, but you gotta love crazy. He drove us around on a golf cart going as fast as he possibly could. I think we were airborne a few times. It was fun even though he ran into a tree branch that ended up smacking me in the back of the head. That was almost as funny as Jenny's goat call. The goat whisperer has some talent. I love these ladies and I am happy to call them my friends!!!
Lastly, my family is going through quite a few "storms" lately, so please keep us in your prayers. It is a tough spot to be in, but I am doing my best to "Let go and let God!" Some times I need a reminder of that that. Casting Crowns, "I will Praise You in This Storm" is an awesome song that helps me remember to hold onto my faith in God!

How to make your own sew in labels!
I have had many people ask how I make my sew in labels. I had planned on doing a tut for this, but I found one! Allyson Hill has a fabulous tut to follow, so check it out here. The only difference between her method and mine is that she used the roll of fabric paper. I buy the prepackaged colorfast fabric sheets at Wal-mart. They come 6 or 7 sheets to a pack for $13. For my small labels I pay roughly 2¢ with paper and ink. You can also design these to fold over as well. Make sure you treat them with the fray check, otherwise they will fray- trust me! Lastly, if you are using these on item that will be washed a lot you may consider another route. According to the package you cannot wash them using detergent, however I have not had any issues of the color fading due to my washing them with detergent. Let me know if you have any questions!
Give-aways and New Items
I wanted to remind my readers about the give-away that my friend SavvyStitcher is hosting for me here. If you have not entered yet, please take a few minutes to do so. You have many opportunities to get extra entries. This is not just for moms. Anyone can use my key fobs, so check it out because it end tomorrow.
KT Papercraft is hosting another give-away for me and a nice trivia game. Please check out this give-away here. You can enter to win one of my Dispose a Diaper Bags/Doggie Poo bags. These give-aways do not take long to enter and it is a small price to pay for getting something for FREE, so check it out and tell your friends.
Lastly, I have every intention of bringing some new items to mod momME shop, but I have been feeling terribly sick and cannot bring myself to sew. It is killing me to not be sewing and listing new items, but I cannot muster up the energy to get crafty. Any way hang in there and be looking for these new items in the next few weeks.

Yucky!
It has been a long exhausting week. The kiddos have been sick with sinus problems and now it has hit me. Ugh, I do not think I have felt this yucky in a long time. I feel like my head would pop if you poked it with a needle. To make matters worse my wisdom teeth are giving me issues. I should have listened to my dentist when he told me to get them pulled. When it comes to my health I am not very good to myself, but I suspect a lot of moms are like this too. I also need an eye exam. My astigmatism is back in my left eye and I have floaters in my right eye. I tell you my vision has changed quite a bit between my pregnancies and now.
Any way, enough whining. The blog give-away at http://www.savvystitcher.blogspot.com featuring me is still going on, so head over there and enter if you have not already. Also, show her some love. She has had a rough week as well. Her kitten past away and she is a little down. It is hard losing a pet!
Lastly, I had a goal to get my 25th sale this weekend. There is still time for that to happen. I just need 4 more if you want to help me out ;) enjoy what is left of your weekend.

FREE US Shipping! ETC
I know that this is soooo last minute, but I wanted to let my readers know that I am offering FREE US shipping until tomorrow, July 6th, 2009. I hope someone takes advantage of this offer! :)
Next, I would like to somehow collect reviews for my items from my customers. If you have purchased from me and have not left feedback please do so for me. I want to figure out another way to show potential customers what other customers think about my products as well. I will be looking into a nice way to display this. As soon as I figure it out I would like it if I could get input/reviews/feedback from customers and in return I will give you 10% off your next order. If anyone already knows of a nice way to do this please let me know :)
Also, I have thought about making a bigger dispose a diaper bag for you to leave in your car or bring to grandparent's houses or even for your own home. My MIL swears by the plastic bags and has wanted something to hold them. I would appreciate any suggestions or advice on this.
Lastly, I wanted to let my readers know that over the next month and 1/2 I have several blog features and blog giveaways lined up. I will try to keep you all update and informed, so that you may participate as well. I am so excited about the things to come to mod momME and I am glad to have each of you to share it with.

Happy 4th of July!
Happy 4th of July! Enjoy FREE US shipping in my shop.
Last night I thought of a wonderful giveaway for my blog, but I am afraid it might be too late! I would love to give this ACU dispose a diaper bag away to a military wife/mom. As an Army Brat, military families are always close to my heart! I am grateful to the sacrifice they make every day to help ensure our safety and freedom. I bought a bunch of ACU fabric because I would love to cater my handmade skills to the military families! I have contacted 1 military wife blog already, so I hope that I can give this dispose a diaper bag a way as a very minuscule thank you!

Paradise found on Etsy!
I thought I would start doing some Etsy finds and posting them on my blog! I am not sure I can commit to doing this every week, but I will try. I started out with a few of my favorites and then soon realized that they remind me of the beach, so I made it my theme. I LOVE each of these items. The only downside is that now I want to go to the beach even more.
1.Coconut Cream 2 oz Vigorous Sugar Scrub Sample Trial Travel SizeI traded a zebra print dispose a diaper bag for this sugar scrub. It is amazing! I could smell coconut as I walked to my mailbox to get it.
2.SeaShell WindChime

Wild Thang... you make my heart sing!
Well I have been holding onto my brown and cream zebra print fabric for awhile now. My intentions were to make a cute purse for myself using a pattern I still need to make! I have a sketch! It seems that the zebra print is very popular though, so I think it is best to share it with everyone else. This is such a popular fabric that it is on backorder for most shops.
I decided to make one of my oh so adorable Dispose a Diaper Bags© with it and a matching key fob. I quickly took the photos and uploaded them to Etsy even though I am tempted to keep them for myself! Would that be such a bad thing if I did? I think that this print is probably my favorite. What do you think of it? I might I have enough to make myself a purse still... if not "Wild thang... you make my heart sing! And I will miss you my beautiful brown and cream zebra print fabric!"

My 2 1/2 yr is OCD!
My little boy has been on my mind because he is sick right now and is not himself. His tummy hurts and he is running a fever, so I am staying up with him until it breaks. In the meantime I wanted to share some info with my readers about my little boy. First you must know that both his daddy and I are perfectionist with most things. I figured he would be this way as well, but not at 2 1/2 yrs old!
He amazes me with his knowledge every day! The other day he pointed at a triangle and said "mommy that triangle is broken!" I was floored... Sesame Street is paying off for us and so are the movies "Your Baby Can Read!" I highly recommend them. Kameron is ALWAYS asking to watch them and he has learned a lot from them. A few months back we were at KFC and his daddy asked him what he wanted to drink. Kameron pointed to the spout on the drink fountain that said water and said "uhhhh I want water daddy!" Our only assumption is that he new what the word water looked like!
Any way.. here is a picture of his tool toys that he lined up.
It looks like an arrow from a bow and arrow! He lines up his cars, flash cards, blocks, and anything else he finds! He gets so mad when Kallee messes them up and you can see how frustrated he is. That is the part that worries me. He is in a complete trance and if you interrupt his little world he gets so mad he clinches he teeth and will hit! I guess he has my lack of patience.

I appreciate all of my customers and all of you who have encouraged me and supported me through this whole process. I was somewhat hesitant to put all my efforts into mod momME because I was afraid of failing, but all of you have made if worth the worry and loss of sleep. Thank you so much! I feel as though I have the best customers and friends. You have no idea how much all of you mean to me.

Dispose a diaper bag/keychain
I am so excited about this creation. I just listed the Dispose a Diaper bag/key chain to my etsy store. This is probably one of the most practical items in my shop! As fellow mothers know you are not allowed to dispose of your child's diaper in doctor offices. You must bag it and bring it home with you, which mean you must bring bags with you or depend on the staff to get you one. The Dispose a d Diaper bag/key chain simply clips to you keys via the small split ring. You can also clip it to the inside of your diaper bag etc. I would love some feedback from my readers! I am excited to see what you have to say.

It's Official www.modmomME.etsy is OPEN!
So, I stayed up late uploading and listing my items and now it is all done. Before I could finish listing I made my first sale!!! It was for a very cute nursing clip, but I am happy to have broken the ice and made that first sale. I am grateful to my first customer and for being my first customer she gets FREE shipping on her next order. There are other gifts for randomly selected customers, so check out my store and see what you like! I am researching a way to set up a registry- that would be awesome huh? Thanks again for all your support!

Moving along!
This weekend has been fairly productive for me. My husband, the kids, and I went to my MIL's so that Jason could fix a leaky bay window for his mom. I brought my sewing machine with me hoping to sew! I was fortunate enough to have my MIL watch the babies and I actually got quite a bit done. I have nearly 30 (total-not each) nursing clips, bib clips, and paci straps finished (minus the labels). And I have 5 nursing covers completed- minus the labels on 3 of them! I also have a tote bag which just needs a label and straps (it matched one of the nursing covers I made). I am very happy with the progress and I am finally regaining some energy!

It is all in my hands now!
Well all the details for the graphic design are over now. :( Yes I am actually sad because I enjoyed the whole process of deciding what I wanted and working with Erin to make it happen. She has done a lot for me... my logo design, Etsy banner and avatar design, business card design, blog design, custom packaging design cards, coupon/gift certificate design. She even made me that button to the right just because! I know I am cheesy. I truly am having withdrawals because now it is all up to me. I guess I am scared about it all and the possibility of failure and rejection. Right now I should be sewing, but I am too high strung and overwhelmed. Tonight has not been a complete waste of time because I did print my sewing labels. They are drying as I blog! I guess I need a pick me up.

Love the NEW look!
Erin, has amazed me again with this blog design. I just LOVE it! She is incredibly talented.
This whole HTML is over my head, so I recruited a good friend to help me out. He is still learning himself, but he certainly knows more than me. Now... I just need to research these neat widgets and applications. Anyone know how to add facebook and twitter to the bottom of every post... like below my signature!?
Speaking of my signature... isn't it adorable? I created the original signature and it was very unclean and the colors were off terribly. Erin cleaned it up, made it pretty, and added the dots. I love the effect the dots have on the signature! :)
Well I must go. My Kallee is being relentless and refuses to go to sleep. She needs her mommy!

Slow Progress
Yesterday, I was not able to get a nap- boo! The good news is that I was able to get some sewing done. I have completed a few bib clips and nursing clips! Today, I plan on making more bib clips and nursing clips, as well as some sippy straps and paci clips, but all depends on my babies.
Speaking of my babies... my oldest has no idea how much power he has in his bottom lip. Last night we were in the kitchen and he was crawling in the dishwasher after daddy told him not to. I also told him to get out and he looked at both of us and spit like a llama. This is not the first time he has done this and he knows better. We have tried everything. Jason attempted to clean his mouth out with soap the other day and Kameron actually enjoyed it! I absolutely do not approve of the spitting. It is disrespectful and rude. So, I am standing there wondering, "what do I do?" I lean over to get on his level, face to face with him. He looks away and in a stern voice I said, "Kameron look at mommy!" He glares up at me a little cocky, but somewhat scared and I say, "Kameron, mommy and daddy do not like you spitting. It's not nice!" He spits again and sticks that tongue way out, so I grab it. I didn't hurt him. I then said, "if you keep spitting like this mommy is going to take your tongue just like I take the toys you fight over!" After letting go of his tongue he sticks his bottom lip out and does that sniffle cry and says, "I say I sowwy to mommy.... I say I sowwy to daddy!" I hate the poutty lip because it holds so much power! I took him in my arms and I told him I was sorry for holding his tongue and using the scary mommy voice, but mommy just wants him to behave like a good boy. By this time he was eye balling the cupcakes. "I wanna cupcake, mommy!" Any way, I am hoping he is over the spitting.
Now, my baby girl is being sweeter and cuter than ever, which is good since Kameron has officially hit the terrible 2 stage. Well Kallee loves the phone and she loves her daddy. She picked up the cell phone yesterday morning and put it to her ear. "Hi, dada...(baby babble... lots of it followed by some laughing!) bye bye dada." She then slobbers all over the phone and brings it to me, waves and says "bye bye dada." I love this sweet innocent stage!

I miss nap time!
The whole lack of sleep is really catching up to me this morning. Last night was another sleepless night. Kameron swears there are monsters in his room and Kallee had a hard time with her ear. I think we also did too much this weekend.
On Saturday Jason, Kameron, and I went to the lake with Pawpaw while Kallee stayed with Granny. I thought we would enjoy a peaceful day on the lake, but I somehow I forgot how much energy is wrapped up in my little 2 year old. Apparently we didn't learn our lesson either because we also attended Jason's cousins graduation party where there were 50 people in 1 crowded house. Kameron got a kick out of running through the crowd because he knew how difficult it was for us to catch him!
We stayed 2 hours and that was enough for us to want a permanent vacation. He found a secret stash of chocolate in a glass jar which he proceeded to open with a pair of sissors he found. Daddy caught him. Kameron decided he would help himself to the food. Across the room I saw him grab some doritos, lick his hands, and put them back in the bowl! I gave my husband that look and he knew what it meant. Like I said it was crowded and Kameron was on the other side of the table, so Jason ducked under the table and grabbed our 2 year old up. We got some interesting looks, but you have to be creative with a fireball like him in a situation like this! He then went into the living room where they apparently had some m & m's at his level. He looked at me, smiled, grabbed two heaping handfuls, and ran off. I was on my way to change Kallee, so I ran into him in one of the bedrooms. I tried grabbing them from him but he shoved a handful in his mouth and ran like the wind. My father in law tells me that Kameron ran to him choking on the mouthful of m & m's, which he spit in my father in laws hand. He took a breath and shoved the other handful of m & m's in his mouth! It took my father in law, Jason, and myself to keep up with Kameron at that party. I am sure there is chocolate and cheese on several surfaces throughout their house. When we said good bye everyone told us, "you got you hands full with that one!" "Yes we know!" I didn't say what I really wanted to say, which was "next time we will bring his leash!" I know that would not go over well, but I am sure "next time we will bring his crate," is much worse!I vow to take a nap today granted I get both my kids down for a nap at the same time. We will see how that plan goes.

Running on empty!
I have every intention of getting mod momME off the ground, but lately it seems like I lack the energy to create. Right now both of my babies are in bed and I am blogging. Why am I not sewing? I am too drained to create and sew and I know that if I were sewing now I would not be giving my all. Why am I so drained?
For the past few weeks I have been taking care of my 1 year old who has been ill. Right after she turned one on May 6th she got her first tooth. She was terribly fussying and she just wanted to be held. She then started running a fever that would not break. It actually got up to 104.6 and I knew there was something more to her fussiness. I took her to her pediatrician and was told she had Roseolla and 2 severe ear infections. It was so terrible that she had to get 3 days of antibiotic shots. We returned to the doctor 1 week later to find out that one ear had healed, but the other is still terribly infected. She also developed a yeast infection due to the antibiotics. I feel so bad for her, but I am so exhausted. I have had to hold her for almost 2 weeks straight now. It seems that only mommy has the nurturing touch she needs. If she is not better in 2 weeks she will need to see an ENT and get tubes in her ears. If all of that was not enough for my poor baby she may also need a pancreatic stimulation. She does not gain and maintain weight very well just like her brother. Her stool sample tests came back and there are issues with her food absorption just like her brother. We will be running the stool sample tests again in 2 weeks granted she is feeling better and is off the antibiotics. I am not a pessimist in any way, but I am pretty sure she will have to have the pancreatic stimulation because we went through the same tests and procedures with her brother. His pancreatic stimulation showed that he does not produce enough enzymes to digest and absorb food properly. He now has to take digestive enzymes with all meals and snacks. I think we are all so sick and tired of doctor appointments. It is mentally and physically draining.
Any way I desperately want to regain my energy so that I can create and sew! I haven't sewed in so long and I feel like I have not completed anything even though I have. I have been taking care of all the behind the scenes items like ordering supplies, working with a designer for my logo, etsy banner, etsy avatar, business card design, blog design, and all the other research that goes along with starting an etsy business. Soon my baby girl will be feeling better; I will regain my energy; and I will start creating and sewing away!

How to tame a 2 year old.
I told myself I would not use this blog for personal use, but I think it is okay considering my business is for fellow mommy's! I love reading stories from other mommies about their kids and the crazy things they tend to do.
So, how do you tame a 2 year old you ask!? The answer is quite simple and I know first hand that it works. Ok, ok I will tell you already. You simply leave a carseat in their playroom! Carseats are not fun when using them as they are intended to be used... in a car, but take the carseat out and it's surprisingly interesting. My 2 year old decided he wanted to sit in his carseat and buckle it up, but soon after accomplishing his goal he began crying "I'm stuck mommy!" Oh no he forgot that he does not know how to UNBUCKLE himself. At first I got up really quickly and went to him, but then I turned around and said to myself, "hmmm this could work... I am not the one who put him in there so I am not the bad guy... he has been a pest lately spitting, hitting, yelling, and saying "no".. he can stay in there a little while, right? Afterall he is the one who thought it looked like fun... who am I to take fun from a 2 year old?" YES! I let him out, but it was nice while it lasted. I can always count on him to make me laugh even in the midst of his oh so terrible 2 stage!

The start of something new!
First off, I think it is important I tell you a little bit about me, my family, and why I want to start mod momME!
My name is Kristen and I am a proud wife and mommy to the 2 greatest kids in the world. I met my husband Jason our junior year in high school and we have been together ever since. He propsed to me our senior year in 2003 and we tied the knot May 7th, 2005. We knew right away we wanted kids! Right after we celebrated our one year annivesary we found out we were pregnant. We actually found out the day before Mother's Day! On December 29th 2006 we welcomed our beautiful son Kameron Lucas. On August 27th (Jason's birthday) we found out we were expecting baby number 2. And on May 6th 2008 we welcomed our beautiful daughter Kallee Deanne!
Life has been hectic with 2 little ones and one income. I cannot imagine having anyone else raise my children, but something needs to give. I decided to pick up sewing when looking for a birthday dress for Kallee's 1st birthday. Nothing apeased me, so I decided to give sewing a shot. I came to realize how much I love sewing and soon found myself making items for my friends and family. This was all at the time when I felt like I lacked my own identity, which I think most women tend to do when they become busy moms. I love my kids to death, but I felt like they consumed the ME that once existed! I was tired of sporting the cutesie character print accessories. I knew there must be other women out there who felt the same way. I think that providing mom's with hip baby/mommy accessories I can help boost their ego and help them "rediscover the ME in mommy!"
My plan is to provide hip, quality accessories such as: bags, clutches, diaper clutches, changing pads, burp cloths, bib clips, paci clips, nursing clips, nursing covers, and sippy cup straps.
Things seem a little slow getting off the ground and I had hoped to open shop already, but as a mommy of 2 this was expected. My baby girl is getting over a severe double ear infection. Any way when she feels I hope to get the ball running again. Look for me at www.modmomME.etsy.com.
